Reviews for Bob's Shoe Repair

Bob's Shoe Repair has received a variety of customer reviews, resulting in an overall rating of 2.9. Many customers have expressed their disappointment with the quality of service and the craftsmanship provided. While some have praised the staff for being kind and friendly, the feedback on the actual repairs tends to be overwhelmingly negative.

Multiple reviews highlight issues such as unprofessional repairs and poor communication. For instance, one customer mentioned feeling ripped off after receiving a botched shoe repair and being charged more than initially quoted. Others shared experiences of delays and uncompleted work, leaving them frustrated and dissatisfied.

  • A customer reported that their shoes looked awful after repairs, even noting that one shoe appeared shorter than the other.
  • Another reviewer was left stunned when their brand new wallet was damaged, with no attempt to use appropriate materials for the repair.
  • There were complaints about inconsistent stitching and lack of attention to detail for high-end leather goods.
  • Timeliness was another issue, with a customer finding the shop owner chatting instead of working on their repairs when they arrived.

On a more positive note, a few customers have shared experiences of how their items were restored beautifully and how returning to this shop was a cost-effective choice compared to buying new products. Positive experiences appear to be in the minority, however, with many feeling that the repairs did not meet their expectations.

Wish I saw the reviews before going. Really kind man, cut my keys well the first time I went there, but my shoes look very unprofessionally repaired. Shame, he’s a kind man, but I won’t return unless he offers to amend things…I definitely feel ripped off as my shoes look botched, not repaired. Also, he quoted me $20 when I dropped them off, then asked for $25 when I picked them up - cash only; I told him he quoted $20 so he said, ok, then $22...it makes me feel sick I gave him anything...this wasn't a proper repair. I've been to the Quick Cobbler before and come home with shoes that felt new - they definitely know what they're doing...This time, my $35 shoes, that cost $22 to repair, look awful...sure, they have a cap on them again, but who wants to wear them looking like this??? And one shoe looks shorter than the other now...I'd demand my money back but I don't feel like going back there ever again, and going by what was said on here, he likely won't offer to amend anything because it's possible he really doesn't know what he's doing. Very sad. It doesn't give me the impression he takes pride in his work or in making people happy. Not sure if I should take them somewhere else now or if they're just ruined. šŸ™ so disappointed.

Nice guy, but terrible service. I dropped a sandal off to be fixed on Monday and he told me it would be done by Friday. I called Thursday to confirm and he said I could come anytime on Friday. I go to pick it up and they're closed for the day... No answer when I called or emailed him.

Terrible. Went in with a new wallet to get a eyelit rivet put in. Previous owner did it a couple of years ago for my old wallet. Simple job. The guy just takes my brand new wallet and punches a hole in it. Hands it back to me . I ask what about the steel eye hole? He just says he doesn't have any. Really.?! All shoes have eye holes. I left the shop stunned. Went down to west Broadway and got it done in 5 min at Leslies shoe repair.

I have been getting all my boots resoled elsewhere for over a decade without issue. I tried out Bob's because it is way closer to my house, and I completely regret it. I could have done a better job myself! He used BLACK glue that is completely visible for a 1/2 cm up the heel, which is NOT black! It's so ugly and now I have to go somewhere else to have them fix it. He also "forgot" to repair where the seam is ripped, but honestly I am GLAD he forgot! I just can't believe he could think this is acceptable?!

Had relied on Bob many times to take care of all our high end leather goods but hadn’t been back since he passed away and the new guy took over. Since I was out of town my husband picked up the boots and bag I’d taken in for repair and am HORRIBLY disappointed in the lack at care and attention taken to replacing the broken zippers. Stitching is inconsistent and threads are broken. What a waste of $230!

I brought in shoes at 11am on Saturday to get new lifts. The shop owner agreed to have them ready at 4pm. When I arrived at 4:30 he was chatting away with a friend and hadn't even started the work. Although the shop was open until 6pm and he was clearly not busy, he asked me to come back next week. Changing the lifts on ladies stilettos is a 5 minute job anywhere else I go and they will usually do them while you wait. I am not even sure this is a real business.

My two Birkenstocks are better than new for a lot less than half the price of new ones - no brainer to come here once every couple of years than to buy new Birks every summer - they even carry color-matching soles (black and brown)!

Excellent shoe repair service. System seems a little old-school, but the results are more than satisfactory. Kept my leather boots I bought in France wearable for many years--thank you!
